A Dividend is a distribution of earnings paid to shareholders of the company. The dividend amount is set per share. For example if a company pays 15c dividend per share for certain fiscal year and you own 10,000 shares then you’ll get $1,500 in dividends. Some companies do not pay dividends but reinvest the earnings into the business.
